Photos and video in any lesson

In any lesson you can ask your coach to shoot stills and video, at no extra charge. Beyond having something to take home, seeing your own riding back makes it far easier to understand what needs adjusting than hearing it described.

How the per-person cost works

Lessons are priced per group, up to 5 guests at no extra charge (4 at Teine). You put the group together yourself, and how you split the cost is up to you. FUYU never puts strangers in the same group.

For example, on a ¥98,000 full day, two people works out at about ¥49,000 each and five people at about ¥19,600 each.

When it is cheapest: from March

From March the hotels and the ski schools both move into low season. FUYU has low-season pricing at Niseko, Kiroro and Teine; the exact dates and prices are on the price list. If you are after value, this is the window.

Snow is less reliable than December and January, but unless you are chasing deep powder, March onwards is well worth it.

How much the low season saves: real numbers on flights, hotels and lessons

Costing out one trip: first time, two days of lessons

Two people, five nights, two days of lessons and four days riding (resting on day three). Roughly per person as below. The ¥98,000 lesson price in the table is an example; the price list is authoritative, and the total will shift with your hotel, flights, resort and season.

ItemWorkingPer person
Accommodation¥80,000 x 5 nights / 2 people¥200,000
Lessons¥98,000 (example) x 2 days / 2 people¥98,000
Lift pass¥11,000 x 4 days¥44,000
Equipment¥10,000 x 4 days¥40,000
FlightsNT$30,000

Accommodation and lessons are the two things you split, so the more of you there are the lower each share gets. Pick the low season from March and both drop again.

Costs are transparent these days. Every line above can be checked before you travel, so there is rarely anything that only turns up once you are there.

Which Niseko lift pass is actually worth buying

Private lessons cost more. Are they worth it?

If you want this trip to be the one where you genuinely learn to control the board, book private. It is not that group lessons do not work; it is that a private lesson is built entirely around you, or around your group.

What we see most often is someone finishing a group course, coming back the following season having forgotten it, and starting over. With private lessons you can pick up where you left off the next year, and FUYU keeps a record of every student's progress.
