How we match you with a coachFUYU's Coaching Team in Hokkaido

All 34 bilingual coaches at FUYU SKI hold international instructor certification. 34 bilingual coaches; 30 of 34 hold Level 2 or higher international certification. Level 3 instructors and above can run training programs and coach Level 1 and Level 2 instructors. Every coach trains weekly within FUYU and teaches the same system.

FUYU is registered to teach at Niseko, Rusutsu, Kiroro and Sapporo Teine under each resort's own rules. At Niseko, FUYU is a NISEKO UNITED certified snowsports school. Every coach holds a valid international instructor certification and legal work status in Japan, and we carry third-party liability insurance as each resort requires.

8 of them are Technical Directors, and every coach must pass FUYU's internal certification before teaching. Tell us your situation and goals, and we'll find the right fit.

We assign a coach who fits you

Just tell us your level, discipline, resort, age, and what you want to get out of this lesson, and FUYU will use that to assign the right coach.

We take into account:

-Whether you ski or snowboard
-Your current level and where you're apprehensive
-What you want to work on: fundamentals, edge changes, carving, park, powder, or a kids' course
-Which resort you're at: Niseko, Rusutsu, Kiroro, or Teine
-Whether you need a bilingual coach, or one experienced with kids
-Whether you'd like to request a FUYU Technical Director

The 4 stages of learning a new movement

  • Build: understand the idea behind the movement, and where it's used.
  • Habit: get the core mechanics down and use them without thinking.
  • Adapt: keep it stable across different terrain or snow conditions.
  • Create: blend it naturally into the rest of your riding.

The technique becomes yours, not something that only works on the day. If there's a gap before you're back, picking it up again is much faster than starting from zero. FUYU coaches walk you through the full cycle.
