Kids Ski Lessons
Bringing Your Children Skiing | Kids ski lessons in Hokkaido, from age 3
Below are the questions parents ask us most, and how we actually teach children.
What age can my child start
From age 3 we can place a child in the youngest group; from 7 to 14 they go into the children's group.
A few things worth assessing yourself first:
- Whether they can follow a simple instruction — “lift your foot up”, “look ahead”
- We suggest starting on skis rather than a snowboard: they are easier to pick up, gentler on a child's bones and muscles, and easier to control
- Stamina and patience are what parents worry about most. Lessons adjust to the child, leaning on game-based teaching that builds skiing movements out of everyday ones, so the habit forms gradually
The lessons
A different plan depending on what they have skied before
First Time Skiing
Our goal: Get your child riding independently
Lesson Plan
- — Getting comfortable putting on and taking off gear by themselves
- — Controlling speed and direction on gentle slopes
- — Learning to judge safe speed
How Coaches Teach
- — Lessons run like games, avoiding heavy technical language
- — Full support throughout — speed control, getting on and off lifts
- — Small challenges introduced at the right pace
Let us know if you need anything
- → More video of your child riding
- → Regular updates on how they're doing
- → Adjusting the pace of the lesson
From Our Experience
