FUYU began with what Brian saw over many years working in Japan's ski industry.

He noticed that very few Chinese-language ski schools in Japan had a proper system for training their coaches. Plenty of coaches had passion and experience, but no stable place to keep improving and no structured training to support them.

So from day one FUYU was clear about two things: build a place where coaches can keep getting better, and make every lesson feel worth it for the student.

Becoming a father changed how Brian thinks about teaching. Watching his own child go from being afraid to touch the snow, to standing on a board, falling again and again, and slowly learning to glide and stop, he understood what ski teaching is really for. It made one thing clearer than ever: a good coach does not just teach movements, they know how to walk a student through that whole process.

“If every FUYU coach is someone I would trust with my own child, then this ski school has done its job.”

Over the past three years, steady internal training and each coach's own effort have given FUYU a team culture of its own: hard-working and a little goofy, serious about doing things properly, and genuinely warm.

FUYU's coaches are still learning too. At the end of every season, we know where we can do better.
