When to pick your gear up

We suggest the evening before your first lesson, once you have checked in. On a peak season morning the fitting queue can be long enough to make you late for the meeting point.

Rental is counted in 24 hour days from the time you pick up. Pick up at 6pm the night before and rent for 3 days, and you have the gear until 6pm on the third day, which covers all three lesson days.

Boots have to be fitted in store, so they cannot be delivered to your hotel.

Two things to watch

The start date on the booking form is the day you collect, not the day of your first lesson. If you collect the evening before, enter that evening's date.

If your last day includes a night session, which can run until 7pm, you may go past the 24 hour mark. Either rent one extra day or collect that morning instead.

The discount only shows after you pick dates

Before you choose dates the page shows standard pricing. The FUYU price appears once the dates are in.

What to bring, what to rent

Gear falls into three groups: what you have to bring, what you can rent, and what you buy once you are here. Sort out the first group before you fly.

  • ·Most shops rent jackets and pants. Goggles and gloves you bring yourself.
  • ·Bring your own base layers and socks.

✓ Bring with you

✓

Goggles

Always bring your own. Rental shops do not supply them for hygiene reasons, and your own pair fits your face better anyway.

✓

Ski gloves

Waterproofing matters more than warmth.

✓

Base layers

Wicking and warm. Cotton will leave you cold and damp.

✓

Knee length ski socks

Ski and snowboard boots are tall, and anything shorter rubs.
